As you are probably aware, the United States Postal Services has passed a rate change that goes into effect on May 11, 2009. This rate increase effects all Letters, Flats and Parcels. In order to help you understand how your postage costs will be affected, we have attached a comparison of some of the most common First Class and Standard postage rates, showing the old rate, the new rate, and the net change.

To assist you with understanding this rate change and how it will affect your mail, Post Masters has Mailpiece Quality Control Specialists who are certified by the USPS. Our MQC-certified staff will be available to assist you in determining your new postage rates and can also provide consultation services to help optimize your mailing solution. If you are one of our First Class Presort customers and you meter your own mail, you will need to begin metering with the new postage rates for all mail being sent on and after May 11, 2009.

Current Postage Rate   New Postage Rate
 1 ounce letters   $0.324  $0.335
 2 ounce letters  $0.449  $0.46
 3 ounce letters  $0.574  $0.585

A full list of the new Postage Rates can be found at http://pe.usps.gov/cpim/ftp/manuals/dmm300/Notice123.pdf

As always, Post Masters is eager to assist you with your mailing needs. If you have any questions about this rate change or on mail in general, we encourage you to contact us.
